Motorized Torque Assembly & Test Systems

From the typical to the complex and from light loads to very high torque, the Promess family of Torque-PRO systems offers a complete solution for the builder and the end-user. The Torque-PRO has the ability to both control and monitor the rotational torque and angle in real time through a closed-loop feedback control system. Signature monitoring, curve analysis and gauging, along with data acquisition and storage are several of the standard features included with every system.

The "home grown" approach to monitoring torque is to put a torque transducer in line with a motor or drive unit. The biggest downfall to this method is that the drive motor has the ability of producing torques greater than what the torque transducer is rated for. The design of the Promess Torque-PRO accounts for this, thus allowing the process torque and resolution requirements to dictate the size of the transducer required.

All Promess Torque-PRO systems consist of two main components, the torque module and the PRO-MC motion controller. The torque module consists of a servo motor, encoder and torque transducer. The Torque-PRO Standard and High Capacity systems include an output shaft for direct coupling to the tooling. Torque can be measured in both the clockwise and counter clockwise direction. The integrated encoder provides angular position feedback. For design flexibility, each Torque-PRO System can be configured for either base or flange mounting.

The PRO-MC is an all inclusive, single axis controller designed for stand-alone mounting at the work station. Inputs for external digital and/or analog sensors are available. External interfacing can be accomplished through discrete I/O or multiple Fieldbus options. This plug-n-play controller gives the user the option of eliminating a large control panel.
